A Fool's Functions

- Being an a-normal person; making the public realize its own 'normality'.
- Providing the public with superiority feelings because of its own non-foolishness.
- Be a vehicle for satisfactory distancing public from the events he endures ("Glad we're not in his shoes!") or the people he makes fun of ("Yes, they do deserve to ...").
- Represent secretive feelings and wishes (of non-conformity) of the public.
- Attack taboos more directly.
- Occasionally provide entertainment and laughs in the process.
